Announcing "Cute Qt Competition"

A chance to win an n8 + 5k cash

Now here's a nice one. I'm happy to announce that Nokia has signed up to be a Gold Sponsor of the Travelling Salesman project, and together we have launched a fantastic competition for developers in the region. Our goal is to get all the local developers, however big or small, activated to build something new and original with Qt.

How it works

As I travel around I will be talking to entrepreneurs, students and developers. All you need to do, as a first step, is to come up to me and tell me what you are thinking about working on. It can be wacky, fun, serious, groundbreaking, weird or wonderful. Anything goes. The idea can be something you'll hack together in half an hour, or something you will work on until the very last second of the December 16th deadline. I'll take a video clip of the idea. Meanwhile, you start coding! You can even work on it by becoming a passenger in the Land Rover and doing stuff as we drive (I'll make an extra feature of any such adventurers :-) )

Don't worry if you haven't done anything with Qt before. Just come up and tell me what you want to do and move from there.

The winners will then be announced some time soon later, and on Nokia's developer blogs.

The Prizes

The best app from each city will receive an C7 00 device from Nokia!

The grand prize for the whole tour is a set of N8s for the team members and 5000 euros!

Additionally Nokia will be covering and featuring all the best apps.

So a fantastic opportunity to show your skills, promote your team and get really sweet prizes.

What Next?

See the Nokia blog and campaign for details on the developer tools and to sign up to their developer programme. Then come to one of the Travelling Salesman events. Remember that the first is today in Helsinki at the Cable Factory from 16:00 onwards! At this stage just an idea is enough, so come and tell me about it.

Definitely not a competition to miss.
