A full sauna

With the last day of LeWeb being quite, I had a chance to write up my tips on driving in Paris. You should read it if only for the truly unique car I managed to snap a photo of.

I made pretty good time from Belgium to Amsterdam, and the GPS guided me to the area where the sauna meet-up was planned for.

Driving up, it was not so inspiring as the whole area looks rather run down (it is a former dock area after all). Appsterdam has a small meet-up space there,

Arrival at NDSM

The area is known as NDSM. It is a cultural center in a former ship-yard. Most of the space is used by artists, but in the summer the open spaces are used for a number of different festivals.

We started with approximately half a dozen guys (the busiest the sauna has been all tour), but shortly after we started, some folks who had heard through the grape-vine (or twitter), arrived to enjoy sauna.

While everyone was "enjoying" the Kotiteollisuus CD that was in the stereo I had heard it around 10 times and was getting a little board of it. Luckily, Peter had spotify on his phone so we could share the joy that is Eläkeläiset and Finntroll smiley

Sauna at NDSM

Thanks to the massively generous sponsorship of foodie.fm, we had some chocolate and a couple of beers over, this inspired out late arrivals to fetch some food they had left over from an event, to share with everyone. As it was important work, it was fetched using their Tdi 90 Landy

I asked Frank the director of NDSM, (and sauna fan) about the area. You can watch the video here

After a long evening, we caught just about the last ferry back across the river/bay to Peter's place, and he mentioned that the central station finally had the scaffolding removed, so you could see the building.
