A final day of motorways
After a couple fo beers in the rather pretty town Norrtälje, and then back to the hotel for a final nights sleep on the road, we got up at too-early o'clock, to make it to the ferry terminal.Turns out, that we were so early that the check in had not even opened, but only by about 10 minutes. Once opened it became clear that this is a route used mainly by lorries, as there was us and one other car, everything else being lorries.
Once on the boat, I checked with the staff what the crossing would be like, and apparently a bit rocky. So they gave me some sea-sickness medicine (some sort of chewing gum). It seemed to help. At least, that combined with looking at the horizon.
Strangely shortly after leaving the harbour, once in open water, the boat did a 360 pivot. Apparently they were testing the front propellers.
As we neared the Åland islands, we got 3G signals and so could finally get on the intardwebs again. It was great to catch up on emails, and social media.
Best of all was the news of how many people had taken part in the crowdfunding via Holvi, and that so many people were caring for my health by buying good meals
And then the final run along the highway from Turku towards Helsinki. We needed to stop to get the final tank of diesel in order to reach home.
Once we reached back home, a final check of the sauna with the Palo Sauna guys, to check that it was all ok, before heading home.
Another early start tomorrow as we will be having the final car-park sauna of the tour, appropriately enough, with the Startup Sauna folks.
